Denial of Recent Scarf Publications regarding Claims for a Palaeolithic Scotland!

I am surprised that recent Scarf info has highlighted that there has been no claim for there having been a Palaeolithic Scotland!

Perhaps the author of this misinformation was not made aware of certain information delivered by myself to Scarf by way of email.

This information, which had thousands or so of hits; on their website suddenly disappeared a few years ago?!

I wonder why?

RECOVERY of LOST Online Archaeology PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND Publications!

Through the miracle of modern Communications I have been able to retrieve data on Palaeolithic Scotland lost to the public domain  via the apparent collapse of Online Archaeology Publications!

The recent Palaeolithic findings from Ireland (check it out) are as earth shattering as those from the Moss of Cruden!

Perhaps even more so as they provide a strong indicator to past geological, soil science information evidence being ignored in archaeological claims on the moss of Cruden in the bigger picture of things!

Good morning "PALAEOLITHIC IRELAND"

Have just become aware of, recently published;evidence of a human Palaeolithic presence in Ireland!

Check out Palaeolithic Ireland.

There is not too much information available at the moment and I can understand why!

This is great news!!!

Report from Moss of Cruden visit of 01/11/17

Visited  moss of Cruden and surrounding areas  yesterday.

A grotesque land fill has obliterated important areas of past heritage ie the cists have disappeared!

If there is anyone out there who can explain the disappearance of the cists please contact me on an urgent basis!

Fortunately Palaeolithic Scotland territory has not been disturbed!

The Palaeolithic tools are still oozing out from the soils of the Moss of Cruden!

To be most certainly continued!

A good Case for a Neolithic Den of Bodam and PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND reality

It is becoming more and more evident that our findings from the Moss of Cruden are in direct conflict with Neolithic detritus exposed on the Den of Bodam as regards the true identification as to what should have been expected to have been where on the planet.

The Neolithic detritus exposed on the Den of Bodam and the conclusions drawn from its discovery pale into extreme oblivion when our findings from the moss of Cruden ;where Palaeolithic tools are oozing out of damp soil stratas are compared!

In short there is no academic explanation for this absolutely academic anomaly visas vis apparent Archaeological claims which have been accepted over more probable and Archaeological/ Soil science actualities.

In short the Neolithic detritus found on the Den of Bodam and the conclusions which were made from those findings, to be found elsewhere  on the internet under the name of a late and much respected Archaeologist must now be revisited!

If you get a chance look into the Geomorphology of the Den of Bodam and the moss of Cruden and If there comparisons do not blow your mind then Archaeological and Geomorphologicaly speaking  I don't know what will!

The Worm has Turned!

By the Time of my next blog I will have pulled  together some conclusions which I have drawn regarding the past Investigations on the Moss of Cruden and the Den of Bodam.

The disappearance of Palaeolithic Scotland from Online Archaeology was a great disappointment to me, however it might have been a blessing in disguise!

I have searched most Publications regarding the Archaeological and Geomorphological interpretations of the past few centuries and have found that Archaeological opinions seem to have been in conflict, and held sway  over Geological facts to determine how old what was found where!

Well the worm has well and truly turned and it is turning around "The Moss of Cruden!

Retrieval of Palaeolithic Scotland Publications from Online Archaeology Custodianship!

I think that I may have established the whereabouts of  a Steve White who is familiar with Palaeolithic Scotland and was once associated with Online Archaeology.

He will probably be reviewing my posts!

I send him and others this message:-  "Think you not that you were wrong?"

There is much now to follow!!!

SORRY to Palaeolithic Scotland Bloggers!

I have tried to make a link between my online Archaeology Publications and my blog!

Online Archaeology seems not to be in existence any more or has dropped off of the Archaeological radar!

I had hoped to combine my Online Archaeology Publications with my blog such that some focus might be brought  to bear on to the ridiculous schisms which have prevailed in the past and are perhaps still prevailing regarding Archaeological opposition to Geological and Soil Science regarding the true dating of some very important findings from the moss of Cruden!.

The Den of Bodam Enigma!

Palaeolithic Scotland as far as Online Archaeology is concerned appears to have dropped off of their radar!

This is unfortunate as they have taken with them all of my descriptive and pictorial evidence for PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND as was published in Online Archaeology.

To all of you Bloggers out there who may have perhaps referred to Palaeolithic Scotland at Online Archaeology for confirmation of my Blog I can only apologise.

I will now adopt my Blog as a main stream out let for our Palaeolithic findings in the North East of Scotland!

Why? you might ask.

The reason is very simple and involves centuries of theoretical disagreements between Archaeological, Geomorphological  opinions as to the dating of what was found where and what should have been found there as far as the Archaeologists were concerned!

I have written an email to a number of respected Archaeologists regarding a very important and chance meeting between myself and a much respected Archaeologist on the Den of Bodam.

You may may wish to study the history of the Den Of Bodam from the Geological point of view and investigate it's,Neolithic finding; conundrum!

I will now  attempt to retrieve all that I can from my Palaeolithic Scotland Publications on Online Archaeology!

Possible Breakthrough in current Understanding of Palaeolithic scotland

Have been pulling all of my thoughts together tonight!

For the moment I am concerned about the origins of the current " Stone of destiny which our kings and Queens are crowned upon.

Apparently it might have been sort of "Pinkish" as the only surface Granite I can find in the middle East around where the good gentleman may have slept well on was definitely not grey!

I should be pleased to accept any clarification on this post.

The Uniqueness of the Moss of Cruden Palaeolithic Tool Cache!

Things are very much coming together!

Finally, I can relate the Neolithic Den of Bodam findings and the Palaeolithic Moss of Cruden findings with one another in time!

Alas I cannot advise you, via the public domain of this link if I wish to present a paper to NATURE for consideration for possible publication!

However there are other respected journals which I can contact for possible publication of a paper!

Online Archaeology articles will still receive first notification of any new information we retrieve from the moss of Cruden from our site visit in August this year! Which will be simultaneously copied to my Blog!

Help!

Dear Bloggers,

I am finding it difficult to keep up my dual Communications with my Online Archaeology articles and my Blog commitment!

Things are moving pretty fast right now regarding questioning of past neglect of specific PALAEOLITHIC findings from the Moss of Cruden!

Thank you for keeping up so far!

I will pop into my Blog  sometimes but only after I have published on my Online Archaeology Articles.

If you are keen to get to grips with what really happened both Geomphorogicaly and  Archaeologicaly in the North East of Scotland and both in the same Geological time frame! (Which is most important) then please follow through on my Online Archaeology Publications.

If you are really interested please forgive me if I ask you to look into my Online Archaeology Archaeology articles for a wee while!

I'll be back!

Proposed Paper to Nature

I may have violated the first law for the publication of a paper by Nature!

One cannot publish data to be contained in ones proposed paper to Nature in the public domain prior to the publication by Nature of such data!

I shall however press on with my Online Archaeology publications and my PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND blog!
This in the full knowledge that there is currently a big black hole  in past Archaeological and Geomphorogical opinions as to what was found where and what should have been found where, particularly within the ice free enclave of Buchan!

I will copy this article to Online Archaeology!

Preparation of a paper to NATURE!

Given the Communications problems which I appear to be having with my Online Archaeology Publications regarding Palaeolithic Scotland; I have decided to prepare a paper for presentation to Nature for scrutiny and, hopefully; eventual publication!

This will of course take some time as there are very specific steps to be taken and satisfied prior to any publication therein!

However, given the past "perceived" anomalies betwixt Archaeological and Geomphorogical conclusions as to the date of what was found where regarding the date of the creation of the tool uncovered is a question of "Time" which can only be established by the date of the soil which it was excavated in!

I have read the requirements for the presentation of a paper to NATURE and will be in contact with them.

I feel comfortable in doing this!

EVOLUTION is the Singularity!

Please check out past published interpretations of Singularity!

Evolution is the Singularity which should have linked together Archaeology and Geomphorology/ Geology a long time ago!

Why did this not happen?

I have my own opinions on this which will be held for a future publication on Palaeolithic Scotland.

Please do not confuse the reference of Singularity found in some computer games to the profound meaning of the word!

Singularity Established!

I will be in contact soon!

Please checkout "singularity". As far as philosophy is concerned but do not confuse it with a video game which I also turned up!

That singularity has been exposed!

The Archaeological and Geological Enigma of Buchan

Is there anybody out there who can explain the evidence of Neolithic Debris pits on the rocky promontory of that Den of Bodam and the Palaeolithic artefacts found on the still fertile Moss  of Cruden?

A quick response would be welcomed but I feel that it will be a long time coming as I fear that it will require a combined Archaeological and Geological effort to establish or contradict the presence of such a close and unarguable presence of Palaeolithic and Neolithic artefacts with one another!

Tuesday, 16 May 2017

BINGO!

If there is anyone out there who can explain the close proximity of proven late Neolithic habitation found on The Den of Bodam and the early Palaeolithic materials found on the Moss of Cruden please get in touch.

The distance between these two sites is within about an hour's walking distance of one another

If you choose to walk it you will cross a geological rift valley!

On the east side of this Rift lies the evidence of a possible late Neolithic habitation on the Den of Bodam!

On the west side of the Rift lies evidence of a Palaeolithic Scotland.!

Palaeolithic Scotland and it's Location near the RHYNIE CHERT!

Most of my previous blogs have only mentioned the RHYNIE CHERT as if the whole world knew about its existence already!

Well! to any one who is not familiar with The RHYNIE CHERT's credentials please visit :-
Aberdeen University's RHYNIE CHERT learning resource to be found on their excellent web site.

The close vicinity of Palaeolithic Scotland and The RHYNIE CHERT findings adds an important dimension to what might bring future Archaeological and Geomphorogical cooperations closer to one another than what they have been,at least up till now; not evident to myself,as an amateur.

It is evident to me that past important steps which could have been made toward the early  understandings of our coming out of  an Eden got mixed up with one another when Archaeology and Geomophorology fought for dominance over one another as to the date of what was found where.

Well!

There is no doubt in my mind that past verdicts were heavily weighed in Archaeology terms without due cognisance being given to Geomphorogical evidence of their place in time!

Anunaki myths? and PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND reality?

Geomorphological and Archaeological; global evidence thus far, show no evidence of us being anything else than the result  the protozoa and amoeba who met up with one another in the real garden of Eden!

As a teenager I read Von Daniken's stuff and was for awhile captivated  by it!

I was once excited by GOBEKLI TEPE  findings until I tried to calculate how long it would have taken to "Fill it in"! given the area of the site, the volume of material required for such a gigantic call on such early civil engineering know-how and I gave up as I could not obtain OS maps which cover the terrain of Gobekli Tepe in its Hay Day!

Our findings from "The Moss of Cruden" appear to be in direct conflict with some current interpretations of why we became what we are!

I  have weighed recent Anunaki claims against natural selection hypothesese and found them wanting!

"The Purse" carried on specific carvings, which have never been explained, represents something quite human and IMPORTANT!

Palaeolithic SCOTLAND and The Anunaki Quandary!

The probability of us being artificially inseminated by beings from outer space or from even different times does not hold true to our findings from the moss of Cruden or as were discovered at BOXGROVE!

There is another explanation!

The findings at GOBEKLE TEPE are reveiling but not earth shattering!

They would have taken their place on our planet some few thousand years after our finds from the "Moss of Cruden".

There is another explanation for what made us what we are and it's clue lies on that moss of Cruden and has nothing to do with Anunaki!

Is Pedology the "Missing Link"?

I have gone over all of my publications tonight and find that perhaps some past Archaeological pronouncements were made outwith the Pedological evidence of their encapsulating soils having been taken into consideration!

Pedology is a fairly modern science which was  not perhaps available/utilised in some past Archaeological claims.

This is indeed unfortunate.

A Nice Coincidence in Time!

Tonight I was trawling the net trying to find associated links with the word "human" in an effort to associate it with "Palaeolithic Scotland".

It was not easy to establish a link but it has opened up a new and exciting avenue of investigation toward finding one!

However my search introduced me to a group called "The Killers" who have a recording called "Are We Human or Are We Dancer's". I found this recording most profound and it is "Spurring me on".

The backdrop of their publication is one of the most ancient Geomorphological areas of our planet and it says it all.

It has also inspired me.

AN EVEN BRIEFER HISTORY OF TIME!

RAW TIMELINE DATA FOR ASSEMBLAGE AND INVESTIGATION.

(ROUGHLY CHRONOLOGICAL)

C. 250,000,000 BP:- DEVONIAN EXTINCTION.

C. 1,800,000 BP:- “Twiggy” arrives  in Olduvai Gorge (species “Homo”)

C. 500,000 BP:- “BOXGROVE MAN” resident in Sussex (species “Homo”)

C.160,000 BP:- NEANDERTHALLS IN EUROPE (GIBRALTAR)

C. 40,000 BP:- HOMO SAPIENS APPEAR (middle of ice age).

C. 30,000 BP:- NEANDERTHALS EXTINCT? ( had been around since C.160,000 BP and  apparently had all the physiological requirements for interbreeding with HOMO SAPIENS!).

C. 12,900 BP – C. 11,700 BP:- YOUNGER DRYAS CATACLYSM (and recovery)!

C. 10,000 BC:- GOBEKLI TEPE.

C. 6,200 BC:- STOREGGA SLIDE.

C. 4,500 BC:- STONE HENGE.
I have spent some time associating above dates with one another as raw data and mile stones. I will now associate our findings from the Moss of Cruden and integrate them with above which will form a pattern and provide perhaps another stepping stone across the tortuous stream of uncertainty!

The Storegga Slide and its Impact on NE SCOTLAND and BOXGROVE!

My visits to The Moss of Cruden and BOXGROVE
allowed me to notice great piles of flint nodules having  been dumped not far from each of those excavated sites.

It is interesting to note that the mounds which I observed at BOXGROVE were exactly the same as those which I observed on the Moss of Cruden!

These "Dumps" were each about the same distance from their respective "excavated " tool areas!

Has anyone out there associated this Geomphorogical and Archaeological  coincidence between the "Moss of  Cruden" ,"BOXGROVE" and no doubt other, now coastal; regions of our Islands.?

If you have please let me know what conclusions you have come to!

PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND and GOBEKLI TEPI Synergies!

The synergy between PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND and GOBEKLI TEPI findings is the fact that they are both of them unexpected finds!

Although Palaeolithic Scotland might be classed being is a tad older than GOBEKLI TEPI there is no doubt over the significance of the Turkish findings!

If Archaeological and Geomphorogical "Hierarchies?" Could possibly find the time to get a collective act together then we might take a small step forward for mankind here on planet earth.

More information is being garnered from the Moss of Cruden findings but  the phenomenal importance of The RHYNIE CHERT, (please ref Palaeolithic SCOTLAND and elsewhere); is the "Jewel in the crown" and indeed a stepping stone in the gap between important Archaeological and  Geomphorogical "State of their Arts"!

Current Archaeological findings on the Moss of  Cruden had their GEOMORPHOLOGY in place a little, but not much later than the RHYNIE CHERT, as far as cosmological time is concerned.

The Archaeological and Geomphorogical JIGSAW!

At this moment in time no one can put together a jigsaw as suggested by the title of my blog.

All the bits are there but alas we have two opponents trying to construct the same  jigsaw in a jigsaw competition.!

I am finding that where this a doubt as to where a jig saw piece should be placed then GEOMORPHOLOGY should take precedence.

Conundrum! What came first?!

This evening I have reviewed all of my publications on my two internet outlets.

This review has rightly or wrongly revealed to me that the further south from the North Pole and the further north from the South pole that we travel the more difficult it is to find agreement between some Geomorphologists and some Archaeologists regarding what was found where and how old it was.

I was advised, once; that we had to get our Geology of the Moss of Cruden sorted out before our findings could be considered as being PALAEOLITHIC !

I am now of the opinion that this was not good advice and that, in some special and IMPORTANT cases it should be the other way about.

I will copy this to my Online Archaeology connection.

PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND and GOBEKLI TEPI paradigm!?

The discoveries at GOBEKLI TEPI have done nothing else but compound my belief in our finds from the Moss of Cruden!

I have found that, in our finds on the Moss of Cruden; Archaeological understandings have taken precedence over Geomorphological evidence in dating of artefacts!

Well done Graham Hancock! I say.

APOLOGIES TO ALL PALAEOLITHIC SCOTLAND Bloggers

There is a lot of my work published in "Online Archaeology" which I, apparently; cannot copy to my blog!

Given the importance and potential of what is being revealed from our excavations on the Moss of Cruden and for those who are , realy; interested please visit my "Online Archaeology" outlet.

I am in the process of amalgamating my blog and Online Archaeology publications. This process is looking promising.

The only thing I have to do is break down certain schisms that I find between some Archaeological findings and the date of the soils in which they were found!

"IN THE BEGINNING"

This Blog will hopefully give a backdrop to Bloggers of "Palaeolithic Scotland" It is a copy of one of my first publications delivered by "Online Archaeology" which I would advise any individual, who is interested in anything associated with archaeology; to tune into.

PEBBLE CULTURE IN NORTH EAST SCOTLAND
A number of flint artefacts have been collected from two adjacent sites in the Buchan area of North East Scotland. The first site is a solifluction deposit derived from glacial till in a quarry face at Stoneyhill farm ( NJ 08,41). The second site is on North Aldie farm (NJ 072,409), a short distance away on the other side of the Laeca burn and is composed of glacial melt water gravels. Because of the simple nature of the working of these flints it is suspected that they are artefacts of great antiquity.
The quarry at Stoneyhill farm is being worked for granite and shows the following section:- At the top is 10 - 15 cm of organic matter that is underlain by 20 cm of a bleached horizon that shows some signs of gleying due to the presence of a subjacent iron pan. Then follows up two metres of a solifluction deposit derived from glacial till, then the insitu till followed by weathered granite which grades, gradually, into fresh granite. The solifluction deposit and insitu till has been hardened due to being permafrost during the Weichsellian glaciation. It is within this "Indurated layer", as it is known in Scotland, or "Fragipan", as it is Internationally known, that the flint artefacts have been found. Thus the flints have been incorporated in the glacial drift, soliflucted down the slope and then incorporated in permafrost.
The gravels on North Aldie farm form a terrace on the South side of the burn which probably formed a major channel for glacial melt waters. The lower part of this profile, from which the artefacts have been extracted, was also permafrost during the Wechsellian glaciation.
Although worked flints were also found above the relic permafrost only those found within this horizon were collected because it was felt that there would be little contamination from Holocene flint working, such as the Mesolithic or Neolithic which are quite common in this part of Scotland.
A total of over 2,000 flint fragments have been collected from these two sites of which about 100 seem to have been natural fragments that were used and/or worked in a number of different ways. Some of these flints exhibit a pattern of fracturing which appears to form the initial stage of a process and about 10 seem to be finished products.
Generally these artefacts seem to fall into the following eight classes:
  1. Cutters
  2. Hammer stones
  3. Carbon impregnated flints
  4. Reddened flints
  5. Flints showing a repeated pattern of fracture
  6. Heart stones
  7. Carved stones
  8. Cores
1. Cutters. For the most part the cutters seem to have been worked since they all have the same basic characteristics. They were either natural discoid flakes that were chipped to produce one straight edge or, they were struck off a platform to give one straight or slightly concave edge and one rounded edge. The examples show characteristic chipping of the rounded edges. A very distinctive feature is that in all cases the straight or slightly concave edges do not show any sign of chipping, thus there is the situation that one edge is chipped and the other is not. It would therefore seem that they have been humanly produced by a very simple working suggesting a very early stage in the development of knapping techniques.
2. Hammer stones. One particularly good example of a hammer stone was discovered in the gravel. It is very heavily chipped at one end as a result of repeated heavy impact blows at one point. It seems improbable that this could have been produced naturally since there are no known natural processes which could repeatedly and preferentially impact one end of the boulder with such force.
3. Carbon impregnated flints. A small number of flints have a thin, < 1mm, black impregnated surface which changes colour to dark reddish grey when heated to 600 deg.C. Thus the impregnating material is Carbon since no other substance behaves in this manner. It is probable that this could have taken place naturally as the result of a forest fire but it is suggested that these flints formed the part of a hearth and that animal fluids falling on them were carbonised and fused into the flint.
4. Reddened flints. A large number of the flint fragments are reddened, to a greater or lesser extent. In many cases the reddening forms a thin layer just beneath the cortex while, in a small number of others, the whole of the flint has been reddened. It is suggested that the reddening has been produced by the oxidation of the very small amounts of iron in the flints when they were in a fire, since this can be easily reproduced in the laboratory. In addition the fractures of these flints are typically those of fire fracture.
5. Flints showing a repeated pattern of fracture. A cluster of flints were excavated at one of the sites at Stoneyhill farm which included a number apparently fractured by the same technique. These pebbles exhibit a smooth angular face, generally inclined to a rougher face at an angle which varies between 45 deg. and 60 deg. The pebbles are all about 3cm to 5cm at their largest dimension. A fossil Heart Urchin was found at another Stoneyhill site which conforms to the same pattern.
6. Heart stones. Possibly the most distinctive feature of these two sites, ( Stoneyhill and North Aldie), is the presence of what might be called heart-stones found at North Aldie. These are roughly heart shaped flints that occur naturally and have been worked in a very specific manner. The right lobe is higher than the left, rarely is the left lobe higher. The backs of these flints are more or less flat while the fronts are slightly domed. However, the most distinctive feature is the area between the lobes. In most cases it has been chipped from the back and then the chip marks have been partially or completely removed by polishing; it is inconceivable that this could be a natural process. The area between the lobes is the most inaccessible yet, in most cases, there are clear chip marks while there are none on the rest of the flint. Furthermore the degree of polish is considerably greater than could be achieved by natural processes but could easily produced by rubbing with bone and water as will be discussed below. It is suggested that the shape of these heart stones is mainly natural since some occur which show none of the extra features described above. For some, unknown, reason they have been systematically collected, chipped, polished and probably flattened on one side.
7. Carved flint. The most spectacular find is a flint, carved to give a face. The two eyes are clearly calcareous fossils which have dissolved to leave two cavities while the nose and mouth have been produced by carving.. This may seem to be an extremely difficult process since there were metal tools but in reality it is quite simple to work flint with another piece of flint. The heart stones and the carved stone seem to be the first recorded occurrence of these human artefacts in Scotland. The type of working and polishing indicates a class of technology that has so far not been recognised. The major problem with these artefacts is attempting to ascribe an age. Since they are found in glacial drift, solifluction deposits and melt water gravels from the drift they have to be at least pre-Weischellian and since there is no, unequivocal, evidence for Weischellian glaciation in the Buchan area of North-east Scotland they are most probably pre............. . Which makes them in excess of 250,000 years and probably contemporary with Boxgrove man or earlier (Ref..........) since his worked flints seem to represent a higher degree of sophistication.
By:
Dr. E. A. Fitzpatrick Ph.D.
Retired Senior Lecturer
University of Aberdeen

1994 is an important year for Palaeolithic Scotland as it was then that the two artefacts shown above were found. They lay within 1/4 of a mile of one another on the Moss of Cruden but on completely different terrain.
Although they were found to be separated by only a small dimension in space, they are separated in time by thousands of years!
The Core, on the left, is from a valley and was found amongst weathered red granite close to an isolated cromlech where some time in the past much fluvial activity had taken place. The lithic on the right I found on the crest of the hill of Longhaven near where a ditch had been recently dug for farming reasons. The ditch revealed a brilliantly white, sandy sub terrain which marched with the Buchan flint deposits.
When the Lithic was shown to one of today’s internationally respected Archaeologists, I was advised that the groove on its flank was, more likely than not, evidence of the intention of causing a Spark by repeated striking along the groove. He also advised that it had been lying in a desert for a few hundred or so years after the groove had been made due to the fact that the obverse of the grooved face has been obviously sand blasted! (see later images).
The finding of these two lithics and the subsequent research and field effort which they engendered resulted in the discovery of the "Weewindae Hidden Soil Horizon" as predicted by Dr. E A Fitzpatrick and its evidence of Early Palaeolithic habitation in Scotland.

Reading Dr. Ken Oakley’s works and publications are inspirational. His "Man the Tool-Maker" contains a provisional but none the less brilliant and revealing chart of:- "The Cultural Traditions of Early Man".
(Dr. K.P. Oakley F.B.A provided scientifically derived evidence which exposed the myth, aka, "Piltdown Man").

These two lithics postdate material retrieved from the Hidden Soil Horizon.
The core, which has never been denied by any professional Archaeologist (except one) as being anything but a core; is pretty well certain to be, at the latest, Mousterian.
The "Sparker"? well it is certainly much older!

Recent findings at Norfolk (see Guardian Science Article of 07/07/10 and subsequent comment no 131) are complementary to our findings in Buchan.

No longer can our artifacts be ignored because they did not fit in with "The Big Picture". The Big Picture changed back in the early nineties when we first contacted the BM regarding our findings from the moss of cruden. Subsequent excavation of the hidden soil horizon at Weewindae II, as published in Palaeolithic Scotland; further confirmed early Palaeolithic habitation of Scotland ! We have been in written contact with Directorate at BM requesting that our sites be given the acknowledgement, protection and recognition which they deserve.
Our further work may result in a request for an evaluation of the currently accepted interpretation of the "Out of Africa" scenario.

The Moss of Cruden is under threat from the construction of a giant 20 megawatt plus windfarm. The amount of large turbines to be placed on the site is as yet unknown, but the preparitory work undertaken by Aberdeenshire council suggests more than 12.

Details of the proposal can be found here: http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/planning/supplementary/2009-01-29Part1WindEnergyDevelopmentsSPGBroadAreaofSearchmapsAddendum.pdf

Planning permission for an anenometer has already been given:

http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/committees/files_meta/802572870061668E8025766300411943%5CB%20APP%202009%203001.pdf

The construction of the wind turbines will produce large amounts of damage to the geology and archealogy of the moss, due to the deep concrete foundations required.

We would urge archaelogists to make representations to the planning committee regarding this site and contact the local neighbourhood action group (mocaction@yahoo.co.uk) for further details. thank you

This is good news for Palaeolithic Scotland.

As I understand the scheme of things; The laws of our country require that Archaeological investigation be conducted prior to any intrusion on or into unique or otherwise significant landscapes.

The Buchan Flint deposits and recent hidden soil horizon findings when taken in conjunction with Jamieson et al observations of a morainless Buchan; demand that the evidence we have uncovered and provided for an early Palaeolithic habitation of Scotland be seriously considered prior to any plans for archaeological investigations being evolved.
